Borla Exhaust
BORLA® Exhaust Systems
Borla Exhaust is committed to providing world-class exhaust products which surpass the expectations of our customers. To that end, our facility is complete with a state-of-the art test and development center where we are continually improving our manufacturing efficiency and standards. We have pioneered a variety of improvements in the design of performance exhaust systems. Borla currently holds many US patents for innovative exhaust system technology, and the company has won numerous "Best New Product" awards in the industry. Every BORLA® Cat-Back™ system, Header and Axle-Back is made from austenitic stainless steel (superior to 409 or aluminized steel) employing mandrel-bent tubing, all- welded construction, and is designed for accurate fit and easy installation. Over 40 years experience and special merge collector technology provide the ultimate in power and endurance.
The performance advantages of a BORLA® are widely recognized. The top engine builders in the racing world rely on BORLA® exhaust for maximum performance. In fact, BORLA® is at the forefront of the movement toward responsible racing with our full line of patented, award and race-winning racing mufflers that not only maintain a race engine's power, but in some instances actually add power. This technology is incorporated into BORLA® exhaust for the street, providing an average increase of 7-10 horsepower and torque when you plant your foot, and improved gas mileage at cruising speeds.
Borla® Exhaust Systems with Polyphonic Exhaust Technology
Imagine many voices harmonizing together in a choir. When the right notes are sung together, an ethereal effect is created with dramatically more depth than a single voice. Pipe organs have done this for hundreds of years, using combinations of varying pipe diameters and lengths to form powerful chords. This technology caught the attention of our VP of Sales & Marketing David Borla, whose many years composing and performing in the music industry included a record contract with Sony. David worked with our R&D team to apply organ pipe mathematics to exhaust applications. The exciting result is the Borla Polyphonic Exhaust Harmonizer, which is now featured in select Borla exhaust systems.
ATAK® Technology
BORLA® ATAK® (Acoustically Tuned Applied Kinetics) technology is designed for high-performance purists who prefer exhaust sound over their stereos. ATAK®-equipped exhaust systems deliver the highest available dB (decibel) levels in the BORLA® street-legal lineup... and unlike inferior brands that lose significant sound quality at higher volumes, ATAK® is tuned like a graphic equalizer to shape and focus sound waves for optimum high-volume output.
ATAK® technology is based on specifically-tuned attributes of the internal muffler cores, which are calibrated on a vehicle-by-vehicle basis to deliver the most desirable sound. For more details and to hear the difference, watch our ATAK® videos below for different make and model vehicles.
The power of BORLA® Multicore® technology, with the sound of vehicle-specific acoustic tuning! These patent-pending units contain pipes of different diameters and lengths to create multiple exhaust notes that harmonize to deliver a clean, rich, full-bodied sound to the Borla mufflers. The mufflers then enhance this sound to the character and volume appropriate for our Touring, S-Type and ATAK® systems. The limitless combination of pipe diameters and lengths allows Borla to tune each application so that the best notes and harmonics of specific engines are highlighted. Thanks to the straight-through design of the Harmonizers, Borla customers get the ultimate in tuned exhaust sound with zero loss in performance.
Million Mile Warranty for Exhaust Systems, Mufflers & Headers
Our million-mile warranty, which is the most comprehensive of any exhaust supplier, means Borla will stand behind your performance exhaust product longer than you will be driving your car and that’s a commitment you can depend on. We will support you well beyond the day you purchase a Borla performance exhaust system.
Exhaust Manufacturer Who Delivers the Perfect Product
Our patented and race bred muffler technology consistently provides the finest sound enhancements and performance exhaust system capabilities because every system incorporates performance mufflers designed specifically for each application. Whether it’s a performance exhaust system for a Corvette, Mustang, Camaro, Porsche, BMW, Volkswagen, Audi, Jeep, F-150, Silverado, RAM, Subaru, Mini Cooper, Challenger, Charger, Scion, Toyota, Kia, Infiniti, Nissan, Honda, other application we offer, you can be sure the muffler technology has been catered to the year, make and model of your specific vehicle.
Superior Performance Exhaust Sound
Borla offers performance exhaust systems with a variety of sound levels to ensure your experience fits your specific needs. Each aftermarket exhaust comes with the maximum horsepower and torque available throughout the entire RPM range. With our patented XR-1® technology present in our ATAK®, S-Type, and Touring systems, customers can pick the sound level desired with the confidence that their aftermarket exhaust system will increase power to the greatest degree.
Borla Exhaust System
Upgrading your factory exhaust system to a Borla stainless steel performance exhaust system with a more efficient and less restrictive design can improve sound (adding more enjoyment driving your vehicle) and increase engine horsepower and torque throughout the RPM range (allowing quicker acceleration to pass a vehicle or get to highway speeds quicker). Borla offers Axle Back exhaust systems, Cat back exhaust systems, and for select Competition-Use-Only vehicles, we offer long tube headers to replace your exhaust manifold for the best performance and sound.
Borla Cat Back System
The Borla "Cat Back™" name implies the exhaust system is located behind the factory catalytic converter where there factory emissions remain untouched and vehicle stays emissions compliant. This remains distinct from the Axle Back exhaust system that is located behind the rear axle. Alex Borla coined the phrase 'Cat Back' and introduced the Cat Back performance exhaust in 1978, a bolt-on replacement performance exhaust system requiring no welding, thus being secured using the factory hanger locations.
Borla Cat Back exhaust systems use engine-specific (not universal) mufflers that are designed, tested, and optimized specifically for a particular year/make/model vehicle. Borla Cat Back systems increase the overall sound level & performance. Vehicles that don't have a factory service-point require "cutting" the factory exhaust system before installing a Borla Cat Back performance exhaust system. Borla includes instructions where to make this cut and includes the hardware to complete the installation.
Many of today's modern vehicles have a factory service-point in the exhaust system (flange or slip-fit) located in the exhaust tubing behind the catalytic converter. A Borla Cat Back performance exhaust system replaces the factory exhaust system (behind this service-point) following the same exhaust path and secured using the original vehicle hangars and rubber isolators.
Borla pioneered the automotive exhaust aftermarket in exhausts constructed in aircraft grade 304 stainless steel tubing, a material with higher content of carbon & nickel that won't rust or corrode.
Borla Axel Back System
A Borla "Axle Back" or rear section exhaust implies the exhaust system is located behind the vehicle rear axle . Most installations are completed in less than an hour and require no cutting of the factory system. A Borla Axle Back performance exhaust is a less restrictive aftermarket exhaust system that will improve the sound level both inside the cabin and exterior. Borla Axle Back exhaust systems use engine-specific (not universal) mufflers that are designed, tested, and optimized specifically for a particular year/make/model vehicle.
Improvements in sound and performance are accomplished by using a superior straight-through muffler design, mandrel-bent tubing, and the application of proper engine-matched tubing diameter. In some vehicles Borla offers multiple sound levels (Touring, S-Type, and ATAK®) to suite the individual driver's taste in vehicle sound. Borla also offers the Cat Back exhaust system which is located behind the factory catalytic converter.
Borla Axle Back systems replace the factory rear mufflers and exhaust pipe with an improvement in overall sound & performance to your truck, SUV, or car. Welded tips are standard on most systems running gas or diesel fuels.
